Antler’s Bridge – Cal Trans Hwy. 5
Antler’s Bridge – California
The extraordinary overpass bridge in Sacramento, CA was commissioned by Cal Trans to both Jerry Stuart and Jim Currie, Certified NewLook Installers, to stain. It is located on Highway 5 and it is remarkable the time and effort that these contractors and their crews put into this large project.
When we asked Jim about the project, he said, ” The bridge people did all the blasting with walnut shells and water blasting. After that we masked and stained. The SmartColor stain took multiple coats. Surface temperature is key! and this stuff loves 70 to 80 surface temps and indirect sunlight. The cooler the surface temperature the longer you’ll wait before the next application. The colors we used were the “original” SC-112 Muffin for the base coat on the rock. From there, both on the rock and fish, we used SC-118 Pomegranate, SC-126 Tomato, SC-111 Peach, SC-101 Licorice, SC-120 Molasses, SC-109 Kiwi, SC-105 Poppyseed, SC-110 Juneberry, SC-119 Milk Chocolate and SC-127 White. We finished by applying three coats of Smartseal WB Matte to seal it”.
Jim and Jerry did a fantastic job!!
